Page 46, four lines up: change ''the ratio L(N+1)/L(N)'' to ''the ratio L(N)/L(N+1)''.
Page 51 line 2: in the formula, the power of p on the right side should be r, not k.
Page 94, Example 5.2, line 3: change ''precede i'' to ''come after i''. (Thanks to Professor Hank Krieger, of Harvey Mudd College, Claremont, California.)
Page 109, just below the middle: it is Exercise 5.14, not 5.13, that relates to Properties P1 and P2.
Page 147, line 5, the sum begins when ``m=1'', not when ``n=1''. (Thanks to Dr Neil Walker.)
Page 218, line 5, the expression ''exp(m^2/2)'' should be ''exp(m^2/(2t))'' (twice), and the last term on the line should be ''P(Z>=m/sqrt(t))''. (Thanks to Hank Krieger again.)
Page 229, Solution to Exercise 1.3. The displayed expression should have (large) extra brackets, opening after the second P and closing just before the inequality sign. (Thanks to Carole Becker, Sussex postgraduate, for noticing this.)

On page 156, just before Example 7.18, in the expression ''p superscript (n)'', the n should be italic, not bold; and similarly on page 157, line 5, the bold superscript m should be italic. (Thanks to Jordan Stoyanov, Newcastle University, for these subtle detections. Jordan also prefers the spelling ''von Bortkiewicz'' on pages 51 and 228.)
Jorge Garcia, (California State University, Channel Islands) notes that the Solution (page 229) to Exercise 1.4 is incomplete. It could be patched by introducing $A_n=\bigcup_{r=1}^nB_r^c$, to get a monotone sequence of events, but his direct solution is better: let $B=\bigcap B_n$; we prove $P(B^c)=0$ as follows. $0\leq P(B^c)=P(\bigcup B_n^c)\leq \sum P(B_n^c)=0$.
